GrubRunner – Food Delivery Startup

GrubRunner is a multi-app platform that brings in-seat delivery to stadiums.
The food delivery startup launched successfully at Arizona State University’s giant football stadium. GrubRunner served hundreds of fans, and boosted sales for the
stadium’s vendors.

GrubRunner brings the technology and logistics necessary to
make in-seat food delivery possible at stadiums. It’s a complex
process, involving multiple apps, employee roles and stages.
Everything needs to work together smoothly.

We evaluated what the founders had imagined and raised
hundreds of questions. Across multiple aspects of the platform,
we helped ensure consistency in user experience.

Following GrubRunner’s initial branding guidelines, we designed
user interfaces for mobile and tablet screens.

Introducing a brand new product, and an experience to sports
fans at a stadium is a big challenge. We had to create awareness
and convert fans into customers at the same time. We had to
equip GrubRunner with materials enough to break through the
barrier of resistance. For that we thought through a plan of
action from pre-game to post-game.

The main goal at the game was to raise the initial brand awareness,
and establish GrubRunner’s presence at the stadium. To accomplish
this, flyers were placed in seats and handed out with game tickets. We
set the bar at a professional level. What really conquered the fans’
appetite was the GrubRunner team’s excellent service at the game.

In our relationship with GrubRunner, we also supported the founders
with materials to support new business and fundraising efforts.

Standing posters and flyers, presented GrubRunner’s value proposition
at a glance and supported the company’s presence at tradeshows.

BeatStoc – Music Startup

 

Founders of BeatStoc came to us with their new music startup. A music stock exchange where fans can invest in the artists they love.

We started off with the fun part. Brainstormed about where this platform can go down down the line.

We envisioned dozens of cool features. Then trimmed it all down to a set of features that we would aim to develop within the next 1-2 years.

This is not an MVP. But a well developed version of the product. These are the concept screens that came out of this study.

Sticking to our popular fast UX to UI turnaround time principles, we started iterating on the wireframes right away, towards UI. And our conceptual design was born.

We launched a campaign to put BeatStoc’s appeal to test, for up and coming artists. On BeatStoc.com musicians can go and enter their fan numbers on the site and find out what their stock valuation might be worth. We were able to capture meaningful data from this exercise and gauge interest towards the music startup.

Power Balance – energy startup

One of our oldest clients came back to us with their new energy startup: Creating a website for their new energy saving bundle for small businesses. We took the project up a notch and delivered beyond a simple ID website.

Power Balance needed a web page that explains the benefits of their product, in a nutshell.

So we talked through how the product works. The technical language had to be simplified down to terms that anyone could grasp. We also had to focus on who exactly this product is for.

Eventually we were able to come up with clear messaging and value proposition for the site.

For a new customer to consider buying a product that’s new to the market, it’s vital that they get to experience the benefits on the spot.

During our brainstorming sessions, we discovered that Power Balance team successfully acquired new clients with this simple method: A demo on an excel sheet showing how their clients could bring down their energy spikes if they used Power Balance.

We thought that was genius & turned it into an interactive experience that the PowerBalance sales team can use.

The site contains a product demonstration tool that is used by the sales team. Additionally, a data collection module connects potential customers with the Power Balance team.

Q&A Platform – UX Overhaul

 

One of the first Q&A sites out there (pre-Quora
and pre-Yahoo Answers), approached us to give a
facelift to their current experience and interface design.

We evaluated the current experience, and talked through
how the users are behaving on the platform and what the
desired behavior is for the future.

On the wireframes, we cleaned up redundant elements
and removed eronious features from the page altogether.
We encapsulated related features to guide users through
primary activity flows such as asking and answering
questions, and improved navigation to facilitate and
enhance existing user behaviors.

The platform has over 1 million users, and receives
500K visitors a month from organic search results.
But it used to do much better. Our client’s goal was to
get the site’s ad revenue stream back to its heydays.

Instead of doing a complete overhaul of the platform’s
UX and UI, we wanted to measure if we could start
seeing some positive results with a small change.
We focused on the question and answer details page. These
pages are where the site gets the most direct traffic to.

We iterated towards UI and brought in a brand consistent
color palet according to the client’s preferences. UI elements
were designed to give a bold, authoritative look, and arranged
to clarify the placement of key features. The objective was
a cleaner, more intuitive user interface.

MediaNode – media planning startup

MediaNode is a collaborative web app that enables media planners to plan, coordinate, and launch cross-channel advertising campaigns faster and easier than ever before.

For this startup, we tackled the full on product design process for the MVP. Along with Media Node team, we digested the entire workflow among media planners, publishers and advertisers. We went through their pain points and envisioned a platform that will ease their day to day tasks in managing advertising campaigns.

Starting with the high level concepts and the bigger picture, we sketched and wireframed all aspects of the platform. We have iterated upon wireframes towards user interface design.

Once the big picture revealed itself, we started taking out elements, until the Minimum Viable Product that we can build in the short term could be executed.

In parallel efforts with the user interface design, we have designed the logo and branding guidelines that will be used for the MVP.

We worked closely with the development team, determining requirements
and deliverables together. Media Node’s development lead planned out sprint cycles and as the design team we supported the dev team at every step of the implementation.

Enterprise Marketplace – Proof of Concept

This is a proof of concept project for an enterprise marketplace. We worked on the UX and UI design and front end development for the online shopping experience.

We started with old school hand drawn wireframes to wrap our head around the concept.

The wireframes then moved to Illustrator. We created and iterated upon the screens and various states.

User Interface design was the last touch. All done in Illustrator, we worked directly on the wireframes to mockup the final UI.

Finally we supervised the simple HTML implementation of the pages.

From start to finish, It took us 8 days to complete this project.

Gobbler – cloud and collaboration for creators

 

Gobbler is the cloud and collaboration platform for media creators. It’s one of the hottest startups in LA, with a rockstar team, a serial entrepreneur CEO (Chris Kantrowitz) and advisors and investors including John Legend, Jared Leto, Sir Elton John, and the list goes on.

We joined the 4 year-young startup, bringing in the music background of our Creative Director Alper Cakir, and the full force of our design team to help Gobbler take the product to the next level. We have worked on the User Experience of Gobbler 2.0, as well providing updates on the current website, and marketing materials.

Frequency – a social video discovery platform

 

Frequency is a supreme multi-platform app that simplifies the way you discover, watch and share video. With over 1.5 million users, Frequency gathers content from your favorite sites and networks, finds videos on the topics you care about, and delivers it all to you in one easy to use place.

We collaborated with the successful startup for enhancements on their existing products, and their transition onto new platforms, such as Smart TVs, tablets and smart phones. Within less than six months of working with the fantastic team at Frequency, we have observed them grow their user base by more than 50% and still counting.

Smartsy – shopping with image recognition

 

Smartsy is a chic new image recognition technology that lets you interact with the contents of your magazines. It’s like Shazam for pictures in magazines! You snap a picture of an item of your interest, find out information about it through the app and buy it on the spot.

We designed the User Experience and UI for Smartsy’s Minimum Viable Product. It was around the time when the iOS 7 was just released. We created our mocks in line with the iOS 7 standards and flat design principles.

Pintrips is an exceptional flight search site, for travelers to collect and compare flight deals from sites like Orbitz, Kayak, Expedia… The platform allows you to have a discussion around your trip with your friends, find real-time price updates and helps you make the best decision before booking.

Toyota Financial – Interactive Media Room

 

 

Toyota Financial Services Presentation is a touch screen experience to be displayed on 90inch Smart Board screens.

The interactive tool is designed as a media heavy guidebook for training and presentation purposes of Toyota Financial employees and clients.

We joined the project in Pub1917 team’s lead, and took on the HTML5 coding work.

The presentation is installed locally and optimized for Chrome Browsers. The experience features full screen HTML5 video playback, video players, image galleries, infographics and PDF displays and custom audio player features, built together with animated transitions.
